Glenn Smith doesn’t like it when members of our community go hungry. So he decided to do something about it.

“I hate to see people out there struggling,” says Smith, owner of Oklahoma City’s Pro Power Equipment. “So we decided that partnering with the Regional Food Bank was the best way to help.”

Smith said he especially appreciates that 96 percent of giving to the Regional Food Bank goes directly toward providing food and meals to neighbors facing hunger.

Smith and Pro Power have donated $30,000 to the Regional Food Bank since 2020, and we are deeply grateful for their partnership.

In 2023, Pro Power will celebrate its 50th anniversary — and Smith has been running the store the whole time. He started at the age of 19, shortly after his father bought the business in 1973. He’ll be 69 when Pro Power turns 50 next year.

The Oklahoma City store is only one-third of the family business. The Smiths own two more stores in Texas. One is run by Glenn’s brother, and another by his sister-in-law. And a third generation will likely oversee the stores for years to come.

“I’m just happy to help the food bank as much as we can,” says Smith, who has also volunteered with us. “We’re not a big donor, but we try to donate every year.”

We’re thankful for our corporate partners! Join them in supporting the Regional Food Bank with your gift today!
