Jason's Deli Hosts Benefit Nights to Fight Hunger in Oklahoma

Nov. 12, 2009

OKLAHOMA CITY – As the holiday season grows near, the demand for food from the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma's partner agencies increases each year. This year, Jason's Deli will donate 10 percent of dine-in sales from 4 to 10 p.m. on November 16th and December 14th to the Regional Food Bank to help meet the need.

"Jason's Deli cares to improve the qualities of lives and the communities that we serve," said Lennon Patton, regional marketing director at Jason's Deli. "I recently visited the Regional Food Bank and was amazed by the capacity of the facility and the dedication that the staff has to serving those in need. We are proud to team up with such a great organization."

Jason's Deli has three convenient locations around the metro area: 4236 NW Expressway in Oklahoma City; 78 S.E. 33rd Street in Edmond; and 950 Ed Noble Drive in Norman.

Hunger in Oklahoma is a serious problem. In fact, over half a million Oklahomans struggle with going hungry every day.

"Oklahoma is the seventh hungriest state in the nation," said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. "We want to thank the community, and businesses like Jason's Deli, for filling the plates of their neighbors in need."

The Regional Food Bank provides enough food to feed more than 63,000 people each week, and yet it is still not enough. In fact, partner agencies are reporting an increase in demand as high as 50 percent this year. Now is the time to take action against hunger by donating or volunteering at the Regional Food Bank.
