Dorada Foods/Lopez Foods Donated Nearly 120,000 Pounds of Chicken Patties to the Food Bank
September 19, 2011
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma recently received 3,000 cases of chicken patties totaling 118,800 pounds from Dorada Foods/Lopez Foods, a Made in Oklahoma Company. The chicken patties were delivered from the Dorada Foods/Lopez Foods plant in Ponca City, Okla. to the Regional Food Bank headquarters Sept. 13-19.
The chicken patties were added to the organization’s inventory for distribution among its 450 partner agencies across central and western Oklahoma.
“The Regional Food Bank is a great organization that helps thousands of hungry Oklahomans every day,” said Ed Sanchez, president and CEO of Lopez Foods. “As an Oklahoma-based company, we are fortunate to be able to help our neighbors in need.”
As the fifth hungriest state in the nation, The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma provides enough food to help feed more than 90,000 people each week. The majority of those served are children, seniors living on fixed incomes and working families who cannot make ends meet.
In August, the Regional Food Bank distributed more than 3.4 million pounds of food, yet still had families across the state who needed food.
“We’re lucky to have so many great partners, like Dorada Foods/Lopez Foods, throughout the state who are willing and able to help us fight hunger,” said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank. “High protein donations such as this are especially valuable because they provide healthy, nutritious options to hungry Oklahomans.”
