Regional Food Bank Provides Opportunity for AmeriCorps Members
National Serve America Act Provides Full-Time AmeriCorps Member Positions

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is accepting applications for four full-time AmeriCorps Members to assist various departments, all with the primary focus of helping to feed people in need.
The Regional Food Bank is currently accepting applications for the following AmeriCorps positions beginning September 1, 2011:
- Network Outreach Coordinator – This full time Member will help partner agencies expand services to families, adults and seniors by working with Agency Relations, Network Capacity and Marketing staff to coordinate food drive distributions, manage distributions such as Holiday Care & Share, and follow up with agencies for capacity building in response to the results of the Agency Capacity Survey.
- Data Analysis – This full time Member position will be focused on utilizing data to improve Food Bank performance and capacity by developing metrics and measurements of performance. This would include the development of demographic mapping to identify gaps in service to Oklahoma’s population, quantifying measurements and benchmarks to analyze the successful growth of programs and functions, as well as the development of improved processes based on this analysis.
- Public Awareness Development – This full time Member will help generate a greater awareness of the Regional Food Bank throughout our service area and help grow food drive participation.
- Volunteer Retention – This full time Member will support the Food Bank’s volunteer program to ensure the continued growth and success of the Food Bank’s volunteer activities. The Member assigned to this area will work to support existing volunteers to ensure that their work with the Food Bank is rewarding and beneficial. Focusing on retaining Volunteers, this Member will help grow the Volunteer component of the Food Bank by increasing not only repeat volunteers, but through referrals friends and family of current volunteers. This Member will help develop Hunger 101, a huger awareness tool used to educate school children about the issue of hunger

As an AmeriCorps member, you’ll gain new skills and experiences—and you’ll also find the tremendous satisfaction that comes from helping others. In addition, full-time members who complete their service earn an Education Award of $5,550.00 to help pay for college, graduate school, or to pay back qualified student loans; members who serve part-time receive a partial award. AmeriCorps members may also receive a modest living allowance during their term of service.
AmeriCorps Member positions include a one year, minimum time commitment of 1,700 hours a year, or about 32 to 35 hours per week. The new appropriations put AmeriCorps on the path to 250,000 participants in 2017, up from the current 75,000 participants.

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is a private, 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that acts as a link through which the food industry and community may donate food and other goods. The products are then distributed to more than 750 schools and charitable feeding programs in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties.
