Everyday older Oklahomans are faced with the dilemma of not having enough money to pay for rent, utilities, medical bills and prescriptions. At times, support from family and friends is just not enough, and they are unable to stretch their dollar far enough to purchase enough food to sustain their health.
Adequate nutrition is very important for this high risk population to ensure active, healthy lives. The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is committed to identifying and assisting over 1,100 senior citizens who are at the highest risk of going hungry with the Senior Home Deliveries program and the Senior Mobile Pantries program. 6.8 percent of senior adults in Oklahoma are food insecure and 11 percent are experiencing hunger.
