Programs
During our first year of operation, the Regional Food Bank distributed approximately 280,000 pounds of food to 45 charities – we now do that in about 3 days. Since its inception in 1980, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma has distributed more than 321 million pounds of food, valued at more than $507 million dollars wholesale. In fiscal year 2009, the Food Bank distributed more than 28.5 million pounds of food – a 15% increase over the previous year.
The Regional Food Bank works with a network of 450 partner agencies and 263 elementary schools throughout central and western Oklahoma to distribute food to those in need. Those agencies include church pantries, homeless shelters, Boys and Girls clubs, Kids Cafe after school programs, soup kitchens, Food 4 Kids schools and more.
We provide enough food to feed more than 77,000 Oklahomans each week and nearly half of those are children.
